About Gerlach Companies, Inc. From Michael Gerlach Gerlach Companies, Inc. has been in existence since 1941. When Fred C. Gerlach, my grandfather, went into the commercial and industrial auction and appraisal business, he based it on honesty, integrity, and unqualified excellence in service. Our list of references will verify that those qualities apply today. David Gerlach, my father, joined the company in 1965 to follow in his father's footsteps. He became President of the company in 1979 when my grandfather retired. My father is a senior member of the American Society of Appraisers (A.S.A.) in the Machinery and Equipment discipline, and presently is the Treasurer of the Milwaukee Chapter of A.S.A. When one sells at auction, one becomes very familiar with equipment being sold, and begins to get a firm grasp on market price; market price being the amount, in dollars, a motivated seller can realize while being surrounded by eager buyers. This is market price in its purest form. One can see there is a market for this information as well (thus the appraisal facet of our business). Our customer base is expanded to lending institutions, investors, insurance companies, lawyers, individuals, and more. One can see that by offering the complementing services of auctions and appraisals we are able meet our clients' needs to the fullest. I joined the company in November of 1997 to follow in my grandfather's and father's footsteps. I have also joined the American Society of Appraisers with the goal of soon becoming a senior member in the Machinery and Equipment discipline. I am going to uphold the ideal passed down from my grandfather and father, that the service we provide to both seller and buyer as well as to our appraisal service clients, will be the best and most qualified available. Since 1941, we have conducted auctions and appraisals all throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest for a variety of companies, including printing, restaurants, construction, landscape, manufacturers, machine, tool and die, fabricating shops, plastics, woodworking, food processing, bottling, and more. We are fully staffed and computerized, and have three beautiful clerks who work our sales, doing an extraordinary job! (They made me say that!) We are the oldest family-run, industrial/commercial auction and appraisal business in continuous existence in the state of Wisconsin, and want to be of service to you! Well, thank you for bringing us up on the internet, and we'll see ya at the next auction! Michael |
